The Alltech Lexington St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival, a longtime city tradition produced by Lexington Parks and Recreation and sponsored by the Bluegrass Irish Society, is gearing up to kick off the festival season during Lexington’s 250th anniversary year. Applications for both the parade and festival are now open.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating Lexington’s 250th anniversary with such a beloved community event,” said festival chair Liza Hendley Betz. “This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, with international talent, local favorites and a focus on family-friendly fun.”
The festival at Henry A. Tandy Centennial Plaza, running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m, promises a mix of live music, Irish dance performances, food vendors, artisans and local community groups. Don’t miss the traditional “Blessing of the Keg” to kick off the festivities.
Witness the vibrant colors and lively spirit of Irish culture in the Bluegrass with one of the city’s oldest civic events as the annual parade takes over Main Street starting at 1 p.m.
“We’re excited to welcome new and returning participants to the parade,” said parade chair Megan Moloney. “Whether you’re a seasoned marcher or a first-time participant, there’s a place for everyone in this year’s parade as we celebrate Lexington’s 250th anniversary.”
